Men’s Tennis visits Presbyterian Wednesday

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The UNC Asheville men's tennis team aims to snap its two-match slide on Wednesday, when they visit Presbyterian. Action will get underway at 2:00 p.m. at the Templeton Tennis Courts in Clinton.
The match will be a pivotal one in terms of Big South standings, as each team sports a 2-2 record and is tied for fourth, with the top six teams qualifying for April's Big South Championship.
Last Time Out
The Bulldogs enter Wednesday 8-5 overall, having picked up key Big South wins against Longwood (5-2) and North Carolina A&T (4-3). The trio of Harry Thursfield, Leo Bierbaum and Quinn Fender picked up singles victories against Campbell, but were edged out by the Camels 4-3 on Saturday. Asheville showed a lot of fight, with two of the singles losses going to three sets. Bierbaum has been sharp in singles action, going 6-1 at the No. 2 flight, While Thursfield is a combined 8-2 at the No. 2 and 3 flights.
A look at the Blue Hose
Presbyterian sports an 11-8 record overall, most recently dropping a narrow 4-3 contest against Radford (5-0). Prior to that match, Presbyterian had won five straight including wins at North Carolina A&T and Coastal Carolina. Max Benson is 8-10 at the No. 1 flight this season, Sebastian Dominguez sports an 11-4 singles record at the No. 2 through 6 flights. Benson and Dusan Milanovic have teamed up to go 13-3 at the No. 1 doubles flight.
Series History
The Bulldogs and Blue Hose split their matchups last year, with Asheville claiming the regular-season match 4-3, but falling in the Big South Semifinal 4-1. All time Presbyterian leads the series 10-6, with the championship match being the first win for the Blue Hose in four tries.
