03.10.2022 | Women's Tennis

ASHEVILLE, N.C. UNC Asheville Women's Tennis will look to get back on a winning streak when they travel to UNC Wilmington this Friday.

The Bulldogs were scheduled to play Wofford on Wednesday afternoon, but the match was postponed due to rain for a date yet to be determined.

Asheville dropped its first match of the season last Wednesday against Gardner-Webb in a 5-2 decision.

Juniors Rosie Dickson and Ami Grace Dougah moved their doubles record to 9-0 on the year at the No. 1 court after a 6-2 win, and Dickson earned her second singles win on the year at the No. 5 flight in a 6-0, 6-1 victory.

UNC Wilmington comes into the match at 6-2 on the year and have faced Big South opponents such as Presbyterian (W, 4-3), Campbell (L, 6-1), and Gardner-Webb (W, 5-2).

The Bulldogs have played the Seahawks just once in the last decade in a 5-2 loss in the 2021 season. Lize Alet Morkel and Ami Grace Dougah were the only Bulldogs to pick up points in singles play, while Dougah and Rosie Dickson won their doubles match 6-4.

Friday's match against Wilmington will begin at 12:00 p.m.
