Women’s Basketball heads to Gardner-Webb on Monday

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The UNC Asheville women's basketball team will be back in action on Monday at Gardner-Webb. Monday's contest, which was initially scheduled for January 11, is scheduled for 7 p.m. tip-off on ESPN+.
Last Time Out – Asheville and Gardner-Webb matched up on Saturday in Kimmel Arena, and the Runnin' Bulldogs came away with the 89-77 victory. Asheville moved to 7-15 overall and 2-9 in Big South play with the loss.
Terrific Tandem – Nadiria Evans and Kai Carter have not only been two of the top players for the Bulldogs in 2021-22 but also in the Big South. Against Big South competition, Evans is averaging 21.0 points per game, and Carter is averaging 17.1. Evans' scoring average ranks first, while Carter's is seventh. Asheville is the lone team in the league to have multiple players averaging more than 17 points per game in Big South games this season.
Moving up the Scoring Chart – As her fifth season as a Bulldog continues, Evans continues to move up the scoring charts. Currently, Evans is 17th on Big South's all-time scoring list and fourth on Asheville's list with 1,675 points. The fifth-year senior needs to score 29 more points to move into 16th place on the conference list and third among Asheville players.
Back-to-back/Schedule Switches – As a result of some earlier postponements, Asheville will play Gardner-Webb in back-to-back games, with the second matchup occurring Monday. Following Monday's contest, the Bulldogs will do the same with Hampton. The Bulldogs host Hampton on Thursday at Kimmel Arena before taking on the Lady Pirates on their home floor on Saturday.
