Nadiria Evans and Amanda Blake earn All-Big South honors

CHARLOTTE, N.C. –Nadiria Evans (Second Team) and Amanda Blake (All-Academic) of the UNC Asheville women's basketball team earned All-Big South honors on Monday as the league unveiled its yearly award winners and all-conference teams.
In her five seasons as a Bulldog, Nadiria has racked up several accolades and broken multiple records during her time as Asheville. Currently, she leads the league in overall points per game (19.3). If she maintains this lead for the rest of the season, she'll become just the second Bulldog ever to lead the Big South in scoring average for a season. Furthermore, Evans is Asheville's leader this season in average minutes per game (33.9), field goals made and attempted (189, 468), free throws made and attempted (113, 171), points scored (502), scoring average (19.3), assists (87), and steals (51).
Evans recently became the fourth Bulldog ever to eclipse 1,500 points scored and 500 rebounds in their career. She also is the program's all-time leading scorer in the Division I era, with well over 1,700 points. If Evans can score five more points in the postseason, she'll break the program's single-season scoring record in the Division I era as well.
Blake, meanwhile, landed the first All-Academic honor of her career. Blake, who is a political science major with a 3.967 grade-point average, has set new career-highs this season in multiple statistical categories. Perhaps her best outing this season came in a win at Wofford, where she set new career-highs with 14 points and 13 rebounds.
Next up for Evans, Blake, and the rest of the Bulldogs will be a matchup against North Carolina A&T on Tuesday evening in the opening round of the Big South Tournament. Tip-off for that game is set for 8 p.m. For the full preview for that contest, click HERE.
