Men’s Tennis holds on for 4-3 victory over South Carolina State

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – For the second time this season, the UNC Asheville Men's Tennis team was able to edge out its opponent 4-3, this time topping South Carolina State at the Asheville Racquet Club on Sunday afternoon.
Despite the No. 1 duo of Jon Brann Reid and Harry Thursfield falling, Asheville was able to pick up the point at doubles as Bruno Serra and Rafa Sera were victorious 6-3 at the No. 3 position and Leo Bierbaum and Sirawit Daosaengsawang topped South Carolina State's No. 2 tandem 7-5.
Thursfield looked extremely strong in singles play, taking the third flight 6-2, 6-0, but South Carolina State would be victorious ad No. 1 and No. 2 to even the match at two points apiece. Bruno Serra kept his momentum going at the No. 4 position, downing his foe 6-3, 6-4, while Daosaengsawang was able to clinch the team win with a victory at flight No. 5 (6-1, 6-2).
The Bulldogs continue their best start since the 2018-19 season (10-0), improving to 7-1 so far this year. Asheville returns to the court this Saturday (March 5) when it hosts ETSU at 2:00 p.m.
