UNC Asheville-Longwood Men’s Basketball Game Moved to January 12 on ESPNU

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – ESPNU has selected the Longwood at UNC Asheville men's basketball contest as its first Big South Wildcard broadcast of the 2022-23 season, it was announced today by the Big South Conference office. The game will move from its current Wednesday, January 11 date to Thursday, January 12 and will tip at 7:00pm from Kimmel Arena in Asheville, N.C.
This matchup features two teams that finished tied for the most victories in non-conference play (8) among Big South teams. It'll also mark the second consecutive season that the Bulldogs have hosted a Wildcard game after hosting Gardner-Webb on January 27, 2022.
This is the tenth year of the Big South's ESPNU Wildcard series. A total of 41 games have been played in the series that began in 2013-14, and while the home teams are 28-13, the 41 games with 25 of those being decided by single-digits -- including four in overtime.
Asheville will open Big South play on Thursday, December 29 when it hosts Radford at 4 p.m. at Kimmel Arena. Tickets can be purchased HERE and the game will air on ESPN+.
