Bulldogs fall in four sets to Presbyterian on Senior Day

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The UNC Asheville volleyball team fell in four sets (25-17, 25-17, 22-25, 25-14) to Presbyterian on Saturday afternoon at the Justice Center.
Stat Standouts – Ryann Allison led the charge for the Bulldogs with 11 kills, which is a new career-high for her. Defensively, the tandem of Giulia Rodrigues and Makenzi Searcy both had 16 digs. For Searcy, the 16 digs set a new career-high as well.
First Set – Saturday's match began with Presbyterian's offense hitting on all cylinders. Five players had two or more kills and one PC player Kasey Battle had eight kills in the opening set alone. The collective offensive output by the Presbyterian led to it hitting at .486 with 20 kills in the first on its way to taking the set, 25-17.
Second Set – Asheville battled Presbyterian early in the second frame. After a Lexy Cole kill made the score 7-7, the Blue Hose rattled off a 6-0 run. Presbyterian's offense cooled off some in the second, but still attacked at a .321 clip in the frame on its way to another 25-17 set victory.
Third Set – The third set was the most competitive of the match with eight tied scores and four lead changes. A few of those ties came late in the stanza at 17, 20, and 22. An ace from Rodrigues, another kill from Cole, and a PC attack error gave the Bulldogs the third set, 25-22, to keep the match going.
Fourth Set – After dropping the third set, Presbyterian bounced back immediately in the fourth. PC scored six of the first seven points of the set to stake itself to an early lead. The Blue Hose would add to their advantage and built the lead to as many as 11 points, which would end up being the final differential in the final frame, 25-14.
Next Up – Asheville will close out its regular season next weekend when it travels to Campbell on Friday and High Point on Saturday. The start times for those matches are set for 6 and 2 p.m., respectively.
