Women's Tennis opens spring season strong

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – UNC Asheville Women's Tennis opened the spring campaign with a strong 7-0 victory over Tusculum University on Saturday.
The Bulldogs opened the match taking care of business in doubles, with the pair of Rosie Dickson and Ami Grace Dougah winning 6-2 at the No. 1 spot. Taylor Love and Lize Alet Morkel took their match 6-4 at the No. 2 position, while Beatrice Faureng and Linge Steenkamp picked up a 6-2 victory at the No. 3 seed.
In singles play, four Bulldogs won in straight sets, including the top seeded Morkel (6-2, 6-2), Dougah at the No. 2 position (6-0, 6-2), Love at the No. 4 spot (7-5, 6-1), and Kendall Byers at the No. 6 position (6-2, 6-3). Linge Steenkamp (No. 3) and Faureng (No. 5) each went down in their first sets, but battled back to take victories in both of their matches.
The Bulldogs go right back to work as they take on Lees-McRae College on Sunday at 3:00 p.m. at the Asheville Racquet Club Downtown.
