Big South unveils 2021-22 Men’s Basketball Conference Schedule

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Big South Conference released its 2021-22 men's basketball league schedule Wednesday afternoon, with UNC Asheville set to play 16 games against Big South opponents this season.
Unlike last year, in which the league played back-to-back games due to COVID, this season, the league will be split into two divisions – North and South. With the addition of NC A&T to the Big South Conference, the Bulldogs will play every conference foe once, while facing USC Upstate, Charleston Southern, Winthrop, Gardner-Webb and Presbyterian twice.
"I think what's unique about it is going to divisions within the Big South," said head coach Mike Morrell of the league schedule. "The 16 games is fewer than we've had, but makes it more equitable across the league…I'm excited about it, so hopefully it will be an exciting season."
In total, eight conference games will be held at Kimmel Arena, with eight road contests leading up to the 2022 Hercules Tires Big South Men's Basketball Championship, which will be played in Charlotte at the Bojangles' Coliseum this March. The facility marks the league's first neutral site for its marquee basketball event since 2003 and just the fifth time overall in the conference's 38-year history.
First round games are slated to be contested on Wednesday, March 2, with the quarterfinals and semifinals being played on March 4-5, and the championship game taking place on Sunday, March 6. The winner will receive an automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament.
Game Times & Ticket Updates
Subject to TV changes, all weekday home games for UNC Asheville will begin at 6:30 p.m. this season. Weekend games will start at 2:00 p.m., or 4:30 p.m. on the days with a women's game preceding the men's contest (January 8, February 19 & 26).
