ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The UNC Asheville men's soccer team returns to the pitch on Saturday, traveling down the mountain to visit Wofford for a 7:00 p.m. kickoff.
Road Warriors
After opening up with a 3-2 victory over Northern Kentucky, the Bulldogs are looking to get back to their winning ways, having dropped the last three matches on the road. On Tuesday, Asheville visited a strong Georgia Southern team and after Leon Musial made a couple of strong saves to keep the game scoreless at half, the Panthers found the back of the net four times in the second. Conor Behan continues his strong play, leading the team with nine shots on the season. Through four games, Musial has racked up 14 saves, playing every minute thus far.
Remembering 9/11
During the game, the Bulldogs will be wearing an honorary black armband in remembrance of the anniversary of September 11, 2001.
Scouting the Terriers
The Bulldogs have played just three games so far this season, with their lone win coming against the Big South's Gardner-Webb (1-0). In the spring, the Terriers went just 1-7-1 overall, picking up a conference win over VMI. Junior forward Brandon Oddy has a goal and an assist this season, with Jackson Wrobel producing the game-winner at Gardner-Webb. Joshua Old has started two games in net, totaling eight saves and two goals allowed.
Series History
UNC Asheville has gotten the better of Wofford over the years, going 16-6-1 all-time. In Spartanburg, the Bulldogs are 7-3-1 all-time. When the teams met in 2019 at Greenwood Field, it was the Terriers who topped Asheville 4-0, snapping a three-game win streak in the series for the Bulldogs.
