Women’s soccer travels to Presbyterian Thursday

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The UNC Asheville women's soccer team returns to the field after seven days in between games, visiting Presbyterian on Thursday with kickoff scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
A Look at the Bulldogs
Asheville, who did not compete on the weekend due to COVID-related issues within the Gardner-Webb program, sits at 1-6 on the season, coming off a pair of overtime games, one in which it prevailed 2-1 (USC Upstate, March 27). On Wednesday, the Bulldogs got a goal from Alice Walker which forced overtime, but ultimately dropped the contest 2-1 on the road. Walker became the fourth different player to find the back of the net this season for Asheville, while Courtney O'Malley registered her third start and upped her season total of saves to 16.
Scouting Presbyterian
The Blue Hose, who have only played conference matches, are 4-4 on the season, most recently falling at High Point 3-1. Presbyterian has scored 10 goals while conceding 12, led by Kori Lawrence who has found the back of the net three times and dished out an assist in the process. Megan Serano and Mackenzie Azuero have split time in net, combining for 29 saves, each giving up six goals.
Series History
Asheville has gotten the better of Presbyterian over the years, going 8-3-1 in the matchups since 2008. The Bulldogs have won four of the last five matches, with the two sides splitting their last two contests. When the teams met in 2019, Asheville was victorious 3-1 with goals from Olivia Lenderman, Gillian Oyos and Maya Gutman.
