Men’s basketball announces signing of Gabrelcik to 2021 class

ASHEVILLE N.C. – The UNC Asheville men's basketball program announced the addition of Dean Gabrelcik to its 2021 class on Wednesday.
"We are extremely excited to welcome Dean to our Bulldog family," said UNC Asheville Head Coach Mike Morrell. "He is an extremely skilled offensive player who will thrive in our style of play. UNC Asheville fans will love his ability to shoot the basketball!"
Hailing from East Lake, Florida, Gabrelcik was a four-year varsity starter for East Lake High School, amassing 1303 points for his career. Leading East Lake to an 82-11 record during his tenure, Gabrelcik and company went to one final four, two elite eights, two conference championships and three district championships.
This past year as a senior, the 6-foot-4 guard averaged 17.6 points, 6.0 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game, garnering Florida Athletic Coaches Association First Team All-Conference, State All-Star and District Player of the Year accolades. During the summer, Gabrelcik plays his AAU ball for Team Speights, which is guided by former NBA Champion Marreese Speights. A sharpshooter, Gabrelcik knocked down 46 percent of his 3-pointers while shooting 50 percent from the floor overall this past season for East Lake.
