Women’s golf preps for Big South Championship

Tournament begins Wednesday
ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The UNC Asheville women's golf team will travel to Ninety Six, South Carolina, to compete in the 2021 Big South Championship at the Patriot Golf Club beginning Wednesday. The first three rounds of the tournament will be stroke-play format, with the top four teams advancing to match play on Saturday.
The Bulldogs have competed in four tournaments during this COVID-shortened season at the: Lady Bison Point Bay Classic, the Kiawah Island Spring Classic, the Low Country Intercollegiate, and most recently, the Pinehurst Intercollegiate.
A predominantly freshman team, three Bulldogs have won Big South Freshman of the Week honors this season. Phoebe Carles began her career swinging, finishing fifth at the Point Bay Classic to open the season. About a month later, Madyson Gold placed T-6 at the Low Country Intercollegiate while Venecia Zaia most recently finished T-3 at the Pinehurst Intercollegiate.

Meanwhile, the Big South Conference will present its 2021 All-Conference Team, All-Freshman Team, All-Academic Team, All-Championship Team and the annual award winners on Friday, April 16 following the 54-hole stroke event at the post-Championship awards ceremony.
