Golf opens up play at Pinehurst Intercollegiate Monday

Asheville enters as defending champion
ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The UNC Asheville women's golf team returns to action on Monday, opening up play in the 2021 Pinehurst Women's Intercollegiate. With the tournament not being held last year due to COVID-19, the Bulldogs enter the tournament as the reigning champions, winning the event back in 2019, pacing the field by eight strokes.
The tournament will be held on the Pinehurst No. 6 course, with the first round beginning at 8:00 a.m. Second round play will follow the first 18 and both will be shotgun format. Play will conclude on Tuesday, with the final 18 opening in shotgun format.
Pinehurst No. 6 is a par 72 course with yardage of 7,053. The 11 teams competing alongside Asheville are: Boston College, Brown University, University of Evansville, Georgetown, Morehead State, UNC Greensboro, Rutgers, Southern New Hampshire, St. John's, Western Carolina and Western Illinois.
