Women’s soccer visits USC Upstate on Saturday

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The UNC Asheville women's soccer will play the second leg of its three-game road swing on Saturday, visiting the USC Upstate Spartans with kickoff scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
Last Time Out
Asheville enters the weekend with an 0-5 record, but battled tough in last Sunday's 2-1 loss at Longwood. After going down 2-0, Skyler Chillson set up Madison Carter who buried a shot into the back of the net. Asheville pressured all game, totaling nine shots with five on frame, including a pair of chances in the last 10 minutes of play, but ultimately ran out of time.
Scouting the Spartans
Upstate enters the weekend with a record of 0-3-1, tying Longwood on February 21 and most recently coming off a 6-0 loss at Radford on Wednesday. Ashley Finn and Raegan Meyer have scored the lone pair of goals for the Spartans this year, while Cora Brendle and Haylee Grudzien have each started two games in net, combining for 31 saves and 15 goals against.
Series History
In recent memory, the Bulldogs have fared well against the Spartans, winning six of eight matchups since 2012. After Upstate took two in a row in 2017 and 2018, Asheville responded with a 1-0 double overtime victory courtesy of a Gillian Oyos goal.
