Women’s soccer hosts Winthrop Sunday for senior day

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The UNC Asheville women's soccer team will welcome Winthrop to Greenwood Field on Sunday afternoon, with a 4:00 p.m. kickoff between the Bulldogs and Eagles.
Senior Day
Sunday will also be senior day for UNC Asheville, as the program will honor: Emily Dueñas, Skyler Chillson, Grace Kwiatowski, Chloe Lamenzo, Bryson Lee and Kenzie McDowell.
Last Time Out
The Bulldogs returned home for their first match since February 21 on Wednesday, falling to Radford 1-0. Asheville enters the matchup Sunday with an 0-3 record on the season. Asheville hadits share of chances in the game, but could not capitalize. Bronwyn Luitweiler turned away six shots, while Lindie Clark had two opportunities, including a header in the box.
Scouting the Eagles
Winthrop holds a 2-1 record in 2021, falling to High Point and Charleston Southern, but defeating USC Upstate 3-1. The Eagles, who were selected No. 6 in the Big South Preseason poll, have gotten goals from D'essence Burnett, Bryn Radvanski and Lauren Uptegrove. In net, Ashlynn Harris has accumulated 16 saves and given up five goals.

Since 2003, Asheville and Winthrop have played 21 times, with the Bulldogs holding an 11-9-1 advantage. The two sides have split their last four matches, with Winthrop taking 2019's contest 2-0 from Rock Hill, S.C.
