Women’s Tennis tops Limestone 5-2 on Saturday

GAFFNEY, S.C. – The UNC Asheville women's tennis traveled to Limestone College for a match on Saturday, topping the Saints 5-2 in Gaffney.
Lize Alet Morkel kept her perfect record intact, winning 6-3, 6-0 at the No. 2 flight position. The reigning Big South player of the Week, Morkel improved to a perfect 5-0 in singles competition for the season. Ami Grace Dougah, meanwhile, was able to edge out her opponent, taking the first set 7-6 before handedly winning the second 6-2. At the No. 3 singles spot, Beatrice Faureng cruised 6-2, 6-2, while Brianna Taranto was victorious at the No. 6 flight, turning in a perfect match (6-0, 6-0).
Anastasia Horvat and Kendall Byers each fought valiantly, but were edged out in two sets apiece to Sophia Marchetta and Anastasiia Khriopka, respectively.
In doubles competition, Rosie Dickson and Dougah teamed up for a 6-3 victory, with Faureng and Taranto taking their match 6-0. Morkel and Love battled at the No. 2 doubles flight, but ultimately fell 6-4.
The Bulldogs return home for their next match, hosting UNC Wilmington on Friday at 1 p.m.
