ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The UNC Asheville volleyball team will close out its home schedule this weekend when it welcomes Hampton and Campbell to the Justice Center. Asheville and Hampton will match up Friday evening at 6 p.m. before the Bulldogs and Camels tangle Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. Both matches can be watched on ESPN+.

Last Time Out – Asheville came away with a thrilling five-set victory on the road at Gardner-Webb last Saturday (25-19, 21-25, 22-25, 25-22, 16-14). The win boosts Asheville's overall record to 5-16 and its league mark to 3-9.

Salute to the Seniors – Prior to Saturday's match against Campbell, the Bulldog volleyball team will honor its 2021 senior class. The players that will be recognized Saturday are Anna Skryd, Peyton McClinton, Molly Hackett, Hannah Spicer, Camilly Cristiny, and Grace Volk.

Cole came through in the clutch – A key part in Asheville's five-set win over the Runnin' Bulldogs was the play from Lexy Cole. Cole led the Bulldogs with 18 kills and hit an impressive .421 on 38 attempts to go with five block assists. The 18 kills from Cole set a new career-high for her.

Tip of the hat to Tippett – Asheville also got some stellar play from freshman libero Amy Tippett. Tippett finished Saturday's match with a career-high 26 digs and chipped in three aces to help the offense as well. The 26 digs from Tippett are the most by any Asheville player this season, along with being the most by a Bulldog since Kasey West had 28 in a match against Winthrop in November 2019.

Seeing Double – In addition to the contributions to Cole and Tippett, the Bulldogs had a few others have standout statistic outings. A total of four Bulldogs had double-doubles in the win to help the cause in McClinton (14 kills, 20 digs), Hackett (14 kills, 16 digs), Ona Elkins (22 assists, 13 digs), and Brandy Kishbaugh (25 assists, 14 digs).

About the Opponents – Hampton will come to Asheville on Friday with a 2-17 record overall that includes a 1-11 mark in Big South action. However, the Lady Pirates have fared better recently, winning at least one set in three of their last four matches that included a 3-0 sweep over Radford on October 22nd.

Campbell, meanwhile, enters the final month of the regular season tied for first place in the Big South with an overall record of 16-8 and an 11-1 mark in Big South action. The Camels have arguably played the best volleyball of any team in the conference recently as they bring a seven-match winning streak into this weekend's play.

Series Rewind vs. Opponents – Asheville has already faced off against both Hampton and Campbell this season. The Bulldogs knocked off Hampton in four sets back in early October but dropped a four-set tilt to Campbell. Overall, Asheville is 6-2 all-time against Hampton and owns a 19-12 record against Campbell, but the latter has won the last five matchups.

Admission & CoVID Protocols - Admission to both matches this weekend will be free! The concession stand will be closed, but we will have food trucks (Daddy D's & Blessed Soul) in attendance. Due to the prevalence of CoVID-19 in the greater Buncombe County area, UNC Asheville Athletics is asking spectators to abide by the following:
