UNC Asheville Athletics hosts successful Celebration on the Court presented by Kimmel & Associates

Jay Bilas, Debbie Antonelli highlight inaugural fund-raising event
ASHEVILLE, N.C. – UNC Asheville Athletics hosted its inaugural "Celebration on the Court" presented by Kimmel & Associates on Thursday night, with Jay Bilas serving as the keynote speaker and college basketball analyst Debbie Antonelli emceeing the event.
The event, which was spearheaded by Director of Athletics Janet R. Cone, functioned not only as a basketball tip-off event, but celebrated the 10th anniversary of the Wilma M. Sherrill Center and Kimmel Arena.
"It was an amazing night to be a Bulldog," Cone stated. "Celebration on the Court was certainly a success and we can't thank Jay Bilas and Debbie Antonelli enough for helping us launch this annual tradition. I want to acknowledge our "Celebration on the Court" committee - which began meeting this past June - and all of my staff for their hard work to put on this great event. I also want to thank Kimmel & Associates, all of our sponsors, donors and Bulldog fans who joined us for the event. We are so grateful for your support. Go Bulldogs
Selling out in early October, "Celebration on the Court" was a big hit for Bulldog Athletics, with local media providing coverage of the event. Cocktail hour kicked things off at 6:00 p.m., followed by dinner for all the attendees. During the dinner, Antonelli talked to UNC Asheville basketball head coaches Honey Brown (women's) and Mike Morrell (men's), as well as having a question and answer session with the Bulldog players.
Bilas wrapped up the evening with about a 15-minute speech, fielding questions from attendees afterwards.
All proceeds raised from the event will directly benefit all UNC Asheville student-athletes.
