ROCK HILL, S.C. – The UNC Asheville Men's Soccer team visited Winthrop on Saturday evening,
With the loss, Asheville sits at 1-7 on the season and 0-2 in conference play. Winthrop improves to 4-3 and notches its first win in the Big South, moving to 1-0.

How it Happened
The Bulldogs came out firing early as Conor Behan and Larsen Hackworth registered chances in the first seven minutes. The Eagles bounced back with a couple of corners, getting on the board in the 20th when Ethan Stevenson found Jayden Mace. The teams traded opportunities after as Jarron James forced a save from Sam Jones. In the 43rd, Hackworth nearly equalized as he rung the crossbar, but it was the Eagles who would score just before the buzzer, adding a second goal in the 45th.
Winthrop opened up the second with a shot, but Leon Musial was there for the save. The teams each earned corners in the following minutes, with Hackworth registering another chance in the 65th. In the 73rd, Winthrop would add a third, tacking on one more in the 84th to take the contest 4-0.
What's Next
The Bulldogs return home for their next two matches, hosting Radford on Wednesday at 6:00 p.m.
