February 4 selected as Big South Wildcard game
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Big South Conference announced on Thursday that the UNC Asheville-Campbell men's basketball game on February 4 will air live on ESPNU as part of its Big South Wild Card Series.
The game, which was originally scheduled to be broadcast on ESPN+, can now be seen on the linear network (ESPNU) with tip off scheduled for 7:00 p.m. from Asheville's Kimmel Arena. The last time Asheville hosted a game on ESPNU was February 22, 2018, when it defeated Winthrop 89-75 to clinch a share of the Big South Regular-Season Title.
Although Campbell took both regular-season matchups last year, the Bulldogs edged out the Camels 72-68 in the 2020 Big South Tournament. Asheville currently sits in third place in the Big South, while Campbell is in the middle of the pack. The Camels have an efficient offense, leading the conference with a field goal percentage of 50.4, ranking fourth in both scoring margin (+0.6) and scoring offense (72.7).
February 4 will mark the second game in a week in which the Bulldogs will appear on ESPNU, as Asheville faces off with Winthrop in Rock Hill, South Carolina, tonight (Thursday) at 7:00 p.m.
