Bulldogs to Close Out Regular Season with Trip to High Point Saturday

HIGH POINT, N.C. – UNC Asheville women's basketball will close out its 2019-20 regular season with a trip to High Point, N.C. as the Bulldogs will battle the High Point Panthers in a 2 p.m. matchup, Saturday, March 7, inside the Millis Center.

The Bulldogs are currently sixth in the Big South Conference standings with a 9-10 record. UNC Asheville has won three of their last six games dating back to Feb. 11. They defeated Presbyterian on the road and have since taken down Winthrop and USC Upstate inside Kimmel Arena.

Since conference play began on Dec. 28, two Bulldogs have averaged a double-digit point total as Nadiria Evans has scored 14.7 points per game in conference play while redshirt senior Sonora Dengokl is currently averaging 13 points per game through the first 12 Big South games of the season. Brooke Jordan-Brown is leading the Big South Conference with 12.3 rebounds a game since conference play began.

High Point is currently in fourth place in the Big South Conference with a 13-6 record. Gardner-Webb and Campbell are the only two conference teams to defeat the Panthers inside the Millis Center this season. High Point has won four in a row since losing to Gardner-Webb, Feb. 15. The Bulldogs took down the Panthers, Jan. 9, by a score of 76-60 inside Kimmel Arena.

Brooke Jordan-Brown is 19th in the nation in offensive rebounds per game, 19th in total rebounds per game and 19th in total rebounds. She has averaged 12.3 rebounds per game since Big South Conference play began on December 28 and currently needs just 24 more rebounds to break the UNC Asheville D1 single season record.
Sonora Dengokl and Nadiria Evans have each scored in double-digits in 20 games this season.
UNC Asheville currently ranks 30th in the nation in offensive rebounds per game and 19th in rebounding margin. UNC Asheville is also 32nd in total rebounds per game. The Bulldogs sit atop the Big South in all three categories. The Bulldogs have won or tied in the rebounding battle in 25 of their 28 games this season.
UNC Asheville is 34th in the nation in fewest points allowed and is currently second in the Big South in the category. UNC Asheville has allowed 60 points or less in all 15 of their victories this season.
Sonora Dengokl is currently averaging 13 points a game through her first 18 Big South Conference games. She has scored in double digits in 15 conference games. Dengokl is also just 16 rebounds shy of reaching the 500 career rebounds milestone as well.
