ASHEVILLE – UNC Asheville men's basketball sophomore guard DeVon Baker earned recognition on The Athletic's All-North Carolina Team as a third-team selection.

The list of All-North Carolina players come from Division I institutions in the state, excluding Atlantic Coast Conference schools. The story from The Athletic can be found HERE.

A native of Dayton, Ohio, Baker earned a spot as a Second-Team All-Big South Conference selection following the conclusion of the regular season. Baker led the Bulldogs in scoring for the second-consecutive season, and eclipsed 1,000-career points in the team's quarterfinal matchup against Gardner-Webb, becoming just the third sophomore in program history to hit the milestone. He is the 34th overall player in team history to reach 1,000-points, and just the sixth sophomore in Big South history to do so.

Baker finished fifth in the conference in scoring, averaging 16.5 points per game. He led the Bulldogs with 27 double-digit scoring efforts, with six 20-point performances and a team-best two 30-point games. He set a career-high with 37 points against UT Martin, December 14, on a 15-of-21 effort from the field, also representing career-bests in field goals made and attempted.  He sunk a career-best six 3-pointers in that game.

He scored 30 points in a league game against USC Upstate, February 6. All told, he scored in double-figures in 17-of-18 conference games, as well as both Big South Tournament games. He finished sixth in the conference in both field goal percentage (.451) and free throw percentage (.766).

The sophomore was also among the league's best at turning the opposition over, ranking fourth in the conference in steals at 1.5 per game. He set a career-best with four steals against Chattanooga, December 21, and finished with multiple steals in 13 games, including seven games with three or more steals.

Baker entered the year as a Preseason First-Team All-Big South selection after being named to the conference's All-Freshman team a season ago.

Gardner-Webb's Nate Johnson joined Baker on the third-team as the only representatives from the Big South.
