Bulldogs to Take on Tennessee Wednesday

KNOXVILLE, TENN. – UNC Asheville baseball will travel to Knoxville, Tenn. for a matchup with the Tennessee Volunteers, Wednesday, February 25. First pitch is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. at Lindsey Nelson Stadium.

About the Bulldogs
The Bulldogs have opened the early part of the season with a 2-5 record. Their two wins came from a series victory versus UAB last weekend. The Bulldogs took game one, 7-4, after a strong start from sophomore Jacob Edwards who allowed only two runs through a career high eight innings. The sophomore lefty also struck out a career- high 10 batters in the game. UNC Asheville solidified the series victory with a 7-4 win in Saturday's game as Greg Gasparro led the Bulldogs with four RBIs.
About the Volunteers
The Volunteers have jumped out to a 7-0 start to the 2020 season and are now ranked No. 24 in the country by D1Baseball. Tennessee played in the Round Rock Classic last weekend and left Texas with three straight wins against No. 1 Texas Tech, Houston and No. 25 Stanford. Prior to that the Volunteers swept Western Illinois in a three-game set and then defeated Charlotte in their first mid-week contest of the season. Tennessee will match up with Northern Kentucky Tuesday evening before battling the Bulldogs on Wednesday.
