Bulldogs to Take on Gardner-Webb in Tuesday Night Matchup

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – UNC Asheville women's basketball will take on Gardner-Webb in a 7 p.m. matchup, Tuesday, February 25, in Boiling Springs, N.C.

The Bulldogs are currently sixth in the Big South Conference standings with a 9-8 record. UNC Asheville has won three of their last four games dating back to Feb. 11. They defeated Presbyterian on the road and have since taken down Winthrop and USC Upstate inside Kimmel Arena.

Since conference play began on Dec. 28, two Bulldogs have averaged a double-digit point total as Nadiria Evans has scored 15 points per game in conference play while redshirt senior Sonora Dengokl is currently averaging 12.9 points per game through the first 12 Big South games of the season. Brooke Jordan-Brown is leading the Big South Conference with 12.6 rebounds a game since conference play began.

Gardner-Webb currently sits in fifth place in the Big South with a 10-7 record. They lost to Presbyterian on the road last week but bounced back with a win at Winthrop Saturday. Presbyterian and Radford are the only two Big South teams that have defeated Gardner-Webb in their home arena this season.

The Bulldogs will return home to Kimmel Arena for a matchup with the Radford Highlanders, Wednesday, March 4.

  • Nadiria Evans and Sonora Dengokl have both scored in double-digits 19 times this season.
  • Evans has scored 10 or more in eight straight games.
  • Evans has also scored 20 or more in six games this season, the most of any Bulldog.
  • Senior center Brooke Jordan-Brown has been one of the best rebounders in the nation this season. Jordan-Brown is 16th in the nation in offensive rebounds per game, 16th in total rebounds per game and 16th in total rebounds.
  • Jordan-Brown has corralled 20 or more rebounds in two games this season.
  • UNC Asheville currently ranks 19th in the nation in offensive rebounds per game and 12th in rebounding margin. UNC Asheville is also 24th in total rebounds per game. The Bulldogs sit atop the Big South in all three categories. The Bulldogs have won or tied in the rebounding battle in 24 of their 26 games this season.
  • UNC Asheville is 21st in the nation in fewest points allowed and is currently second in the Big South in the category. UNC Asheville has allowed 60 points or less in all 15 of their victories this season.
