Women’s Soccer Matchup with The Citadel Cancelled; Bulldogs Now Host East Carolina in Friday Matinee

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – UNC Asheville women's soccer's matchup with The Citadel scheduled for Friday, September 6 has now been canceled due to the impending threat of Hurricane Dorian to the coastal region. The Bulldogs will now host East Carolina at 1 p.m., Friday, September 6, at Greenwood Field.
By hosting East Carolina, UNC Asheville now has the opportunity to assist a fellow member of the UNC school system that has been affected by the evacuation orders on the coast of North Carolina due to the threat of Hurricane Dorian.
Admission to this match, as well as all other UNC Asheville home events for women's soccer, men's soccer and volleyball from September 4-7, will be FREE to those who have evacuated due to the effects of Hurricane Dorian. In order to gain entrance into the events, those individuals from the coastal areas of North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia and Florida will need only to show their IDs at the gate.
The Bulldogs (1-2-0) opened their regular season, Friday, August 23, with a 2-0 loss to American at Greenwood Field. The Bulldogs then rebounded in a Sunday matchup at ETSU with a 1-0 overtime victory. The golden goal was scored by junior Skyler Chillson in the 96th minute after both defenses held the opposition scoreless at the end of regulation.
The Pirates (0-2-1) opened their season, Sunday, August 25, with a 1-1 tie on their home field against Richmond. East Carolina then fell, 4-0, to No. 6 Virginia on the road. The Pirates took on Big South member Radford, Sunday, September 1, in Radford.
Va. and dropped their second consecutive road match, 1-0.
