BUIES CREEK, N.C. – The Bulldogs will begin the Big South Conference portion of its 2019 schedule with a road matchup with the Campbell Camels at 2 p.m. Saturday, at the Campbell University Soccer Stadium.
UNC Asheville (2-6) played a tough nonconference schedule as the Bulldogs picked up two victories. In their second game of the season, the Bulldogs defeated Southern Conference member ETSU for the first time since the 2009 season, with a golden goal in overtime by Skyler Chillson
On September 11, UNC Asheville secured their first home win of the season with a 2-0 victory against Mars Hill at Greenwood Field. The two Bulldog goals were accounted for by freshman Isabella Piso, the first of her career, and junior transfer Chloe Lamenzo, her first in a Bulldog uniform.
Bryson Lee and Courtney O'Malley have split time at the goalkeeper position this season, each starting four games. The duo has combined for 39 saves on the season, with 26 of those coming in the second half of games.
The Camels (4-2-1) opened their season with three straight home games, the first of which was a 3-3 tie versus UNC Greensboro. Campbell then fell to Furman, 2-1, before defeating Coastal Carolina, 2-0. The Camels went 2-1 on their first road trip of the season with victories against Mount St. Mary's and Saint Peters before dropping a match to Charlotte, 4-1.
