2019-20 Men’s Basketball Nonconference Schedule Released

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – UNC Asheville men's basketball has now released the entire 2019-20 nonconference schedule, presented by Bojangles.
Head coach Mike Morrell completed the series of announcements, Monday, Aug. 19, with the news that the Bulldogs will tip off the season by facing Tennessee, November 5.
The Bulldogs schedule will begin with three straight road games when they travel to Tennessee, The Citadel and Wake Forest in a span of eight days.
UNC Asheville will return to Kimmel Arena for two straight home games versus Brevard and St. Andrews beginning Nov. 16.
The Bulldogs will once again hit the road for three games in eight days versus Charlotte, Western Carolina and South Carolina State before returning home for a trio of matchups inside Kimmel Arena to close out the nonconference schedule.
The Bulldogs play host to UT Martin, Stetson and Chattanooga in a seven-day span that will conclude on Dec. 21.

Nov. 5 at Tennessee
This will be the 10th all-time matchup between the Bulldogs and the Volunteers. The first matchup took place in the 1997-98 season when the Bulldogs gave the Volunteers all they could handle in the 75-69 Tennessee victory.
These programs have faced off three times since 2011 with the last matchup taking place in the 2015-16 season. The Bulldogs have proven to be a tough opponent for the Volunteers in the last three matchups with Tennessee claiming the victory by 10 points or fewer in all three showdowns.

Nov. 9 at The Citadel
These two programs met in three consecutive seasons beginning with the 1986-87 season and concluding with the 1988-89 season but have not met since. This matchup will be the fourth all-time meeting between UNC Asheville and The Citadel.

Nov. 13 at Wake Forest
The Bulldogs and Demon Deacons will be meeting for the ninth time. It will be the first meeting between the two programs since the Bulldogs opened the 2014-15 season at Wake Forest on Nov. 14, 2014.

Nov. 16 vs. Brevard
These two programs have faced off seven times dating back to the 2001-02 season. The Bulldogs are a perfect 7-0 versus Brevard. Their last matchup ended in a 68-50 Bulldog victory inside Kimmel Arena during the 2016-17 season.

Nov. 21 vs. St. Andrews
The Bulldogs opened the 2018-19 season with an 87-47 victory over St. Andrews in Kimmel Arena, which was head coach Mike Morrell's first career victory. Prior to last season's matchup the last time these two programs faced off was in the 1966-67 season. In total, UNC Asheville and St. Andrews have seen each other seven times and the Bulldogs have pulled out seven straight victories over St. Andrews.

Dec. 3 at Charlotte
These two programs have faced off 16 times dating back to the 1964-65 season. They have not met since the 2014-15 season when Charlotte came away with a 66-63 overtime victory against the Bulldogs at Kimmel Arena.

Dec. 7 at Western Carolina
This will be the 54th matchup between the Bulldogs and the Catamounts dating back to the 1965-66 season. These two programs are familiar with each other having faced off every season since the 1999-2000 season.

Dec. 11 at South Carolina State
These two programs played four times between 1971 and 1973, meeting in the playoffs twice during that time. UNC Asheville took the first two matchups before dropping the last two to even the series over the three-year span.
These programs would not meet again until the 2006-2007 season when South Carolina State narrowly escaped with a 79-77 victory in Orangeburg. The last time these programs met was in the 2007-2008 season when UNC Asheville evened the overall series between the programs 3-3 with an 87-76 victory over South Carolina State inside the Justice Center in Asheville, N.C.

Dec. 14 vs. UT Martin
These two programs first met in the 2016-17 CollegeInsider.com Tournament. Last season, the Bulldogs and Skyhawks met for the second time in Martin, Tenn. with UT-Martin coming away with the victory. This will be UT-Martin's first trip to Kimmel Arena with what will be only the third all-time matchup between the Bulldogs and the Skyhawks.

Dec. 17 vs. Stetson
These two programs first met in the 1991-1992 season in DeLand, Fla. Stetson narrowly escaped with a 91-88 victory over the Bulldogs. These teams would not meet again until last season when the Bulldogs traveled back to DeLand, Fla. for their second all-time matchup with the Hatters. Stetson once again narrowly escaped with an 80-74 victory over the Bulldogs. This season will be the first time these two programs have faced off on the Bulldogs home court in Kimmel Arena.
