Women's Tennis Collects Dominating Senior Day Win Over Hampton

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The UNC Asheville women's tennis team picked up a dominating 7-0 win on Saturday at the Asheville Racquet Club Downtown. It is the second time this season that the Bulldogs have shut out their opponent.
The Bulldogs (7-8, 2-6) grabbed the doubles point with wins at No. 2 and No. 3. Lize Alet Morkel and Lauren Watson-Steele won the match at No. 2, 6-2, while the senior duo of Kylee Shipley and Hannah Francisco shut out their opponents with a 6-0 win at No. 3.
The Bulldogs were just getting started as they would go on to defeat Hampton (2-12, 0-6) in all six singles matches.
Watson-Steele got it started for the Bulldogs with a 6-1, 6-0 victory at No. 4. Shipley grabbed her fifth win of the season with a 6-3, 6-0 win at No. 5. Madeline Finley grabbed the win at No. 6 with a 6-3, 6-3 defeat of Julia d'Auvergne to clinch the victory for the Bulldogs.
Christin Louw won the point at No. 3 and Lize Alet Morkel and Emily Sidor both won three-set thrillers at No. 1 and No. 2 to shut out the Pirates.
The Bulldogs closed out their Senior Day match with all four seniors grabbing a victory in either doubles or singles.
Next the Bulldogs will play their final match of the regular season on Tuesday, April 9 when they host USC Upstate at the Asheville Racquet Club Downtown at 2 p.m.
