BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Lize Alet Morkel collected her 10th singles win of the season in UNC Asheville's 5-2 Big South Conference loss at Campbell on Sunday, March 24, 2019.
The match opened with Campbell (10-9, 4-3 Big South) picking up the doubles point over UNC Asheville (6-6, 1-4 Big South) with wins at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles. Play was left unfinished at No. 3 doubles.
Morkel bested Campbell's Ana Castillo 3-6, 6-4, 10-5 at No. 1 to move to 10-1 on the season overall. Morkel is now 4-1 in league play.
Christin Louw secured the win for UNC Asheville at No. 4 singles with a 7-5, 6-4 win over Inma Ramon.
The Bulldogs will play two more conference road matches in the next two weeks before returning home.
They will next travel to Boiling Springs, N.C. for a Battle of the Bulldogs matchup with Gardner-Webb on Thursday, March 28, at 2 p.m.
On Wednesday, April 3, UNC Asheville will head to Clinton, S.C. to face off with Presbyterian at 2 p.m. The Bulldogs next home match is scheduled to take place on April 6, at 10 a.m. versus Hampton, at the Asheville Racquet Club Downtown.
