UNC Asheville Heads to Pinehurst for the Pinehurst Women’s Intercollegiate

PINEHURST, N.C. – After playing in the nation's largest tournament two weeks ago, the UNC Asheville women's golf team returns to the links on Wednesday, March 13, as the Bulldogs will compete in the three-day Pinehurst Women's Intercollegiate.

About UNC Asheville
The Bulldogs opened their spring portion of the 2018-19 season several weeks ago at the nation's largest tournament – Kiawah Island Spring Classic (48 teams).
As a team, UNC Asheville finished tied for 27th out of the highly-competitive field. The Bulldogs tied with Presbyterian and Indiana State at 11-over 920 (307-307-306).
Taylor Hinson led the Bulldogs, as she placed tied for 65 out of 254 individual golfers. The sophomore opened the tournament with back-to-back rounds of 2-over 74, and she finished the outing with a 5-over 77 to finish at 9-over 225.
Junior Kellen Alsip and freshman Baylee Evans matched each other in the three-day tournament at tied for 113. Both Bulldogs had career rounds, as Alsip and Evans matched their career-low round score at 2-over 74 at the tournament. Evans matched that mark in the opening round, while Alsip finished the tournament with the career mark.
Adelyn Deery and Linna Brooks finished near each other at tied for 184 and tied for 190, respectively. Deery carded two straight rounds of 7-over 79, while Brooks inked a 5-over 77 on the final day.

The three-day outing is being hosted by Pinehurst, and the Bulldogs will play on the Pinehurst No. 8 Golf Course. The Pinehurst No. 8 Golf Course is a par-72 and runs 7,099 yards.
There are seven schools competing in the outing – UNC Asheville, Boston University, Cleveland State, Dayton, Southern New Hampshire, St. John's and Yale.
