KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. –  With a score of 2-over 74, Kellen Alsip led UNC Asheville women's golf on Tuesday, as the junior matched a career-best score on the final round of the 2019 Kiawah Island Spring Classic at the Osprey Point Golf Course.

Final Round Highlights
 
Alsip's 2-over 74 round matched a career low for the junior. The last time she carded a 2-over 74 was at last year's F&M Bank APSU Intercollegiate on Oct. 3, 2017. In her third round of the Kiawah Island Spring Classic, she posted a team-best four birdies. The junior had a fantastic score from holes 1-9, as she went 1-under 35. Overall, Alsip finished the three-day outing tied for 114th with a 14-over 230 score.
 
After shooting back-to-back rounds of 2-over 74, Taylor Hinson posted a 5-over 77 on Tuesday. The sophomore started red hot on her first nine holes (holes 15-5), as she posted two birdies and four pars. Hinson finished the three-day tournament with a 9-over 225 (74-74-77) and tied for 65th.
 
Junior Linna Brooks had a strong round on Tuesday, as she posted a season-best round of 5-over 77. Brooks played level for most of the round, as she sank 13 pars on the final 18 holes of play.
 
Freshman Baylee Evans finished alongside Alsip tied for 114th. Evans finished the three-day tournament with a 6-over 78. More impressively, she sank three straight birdies on her final three holes.
 
As a team, UNC Asheville finished tied for 27th with Presbyterian and Indiana State. The Bulldogs shot an 18-over 306 to conclude the tournament. Overall, Asheville carded a season-best 56-over 920 (307-307-306). The 56-over 920 marked the best three-round score for UNC Asheville since the 2017-18 season-opening tournament at Northern Kentucky (NKU Fall Classic, 50-over 914).
 
Coastal Carolina and North Florida finished tied for first with a 1-over 865 team score. The Chanticleers shot 4-under 284 as a team to tie the Ospreys for the top spot. Tulsa and No. 44 College of Charleston finished the tournament strong with a tournament-best 5-under 283 team round.
 
Sydney Shrader of North Florida won the individual title, as the Osprey shot a 9-under 207 (72-68-67). Remya Meenakshisundaram of South Florida nearly matched the in-state rival at 8-under 208 (70-69-69).
 
What's Next?
 
The Bulldogs will take two weeks off from the links to prep for the Pinehurst Women's Intercollegiate. The three-day tournament begins on Wednesday, March 13 and concludes on Friday, March 15.
