Bulldogs Drop Conference Match to Radford Saturday

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – UNC Asheville women's tennis dropped their first conference match of the season 4-3 to Radford Saturday afternoon.
The Bulldogs are now 5-3 overall on the season.
The Bulldogs jumped out to an early 1-0 lead by taking the doubles point. Lize Alet Morkel and Taylor Love continued their early season success by taking the match at No. 1 doubles, 6-3. At No. 2 doubles it was the duo of Christin Louw and Emily Sidor that got the win to clinch the doubles point. The match at No. 3 was left unfinished.
In singles, Sidor built off her momentum from doubles by overcoming an early deficit to get the 7-5, 6-0 victory at No. 4 to get the Bulldogs up 2-0 quickly. The Highlanders would then win close matches at No. 2, No. 3 and No. 6 to take the lead 3-2.
After dropping her first set, Love at No. 5 would force a second set tiebreaker before falling to Katey Fruehauf in the clinching third set for Radford. Morkel would pull through in a third set tiebreaker at No. 1 for the 4-3 finish.
Next up, the Bulldogs will travel to Durham, N.C. to face North Carolina Central on Saturday Feb. 23, at 12 p.m.
