Bulldogs Wrap Up Fall Slate at Wofford Fall Invitational

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – UNC Asheville's women's team wrapped up its fall schedule with singles play on the final day of competition at the Wofford Fall Invitational, Sunday.
Anastasia Horvat won the round-robin Terrier Singles Bracket she competed in, sweeping all three of the other competitors over the three-day event. Her Sunday showdown with Marielle Leahy of Radford proved to be the most challenging. After falling in a tightly-contested first set, 7-5, Horvat answered with a 6-4 victory in the second before securing the decisive third set, 10-7.
Ami Grace Dougah made it to the finals of the Gold Singles Bracket in a showdown with Anna Smith of Marshall. Smith dominated the first set, 6-0, but Dougah impressed in the second, winning 6-1. Smith, however, would take the final set, 10-2, to win the bracket.
In back draw competition, Rosie Dickson responded from a first-day defeat to win her final two matches at the event. In Sunday's action, she downed Emily Elliot of Western Carolina, 6-4, 6-1.
The Bulldogs will take the next two and a half months off before returning to action in duel competition when they host UNC Greensboro, January 26.
