SET-BY-SET
SET 1, BULLDOGS WIN 25-14: After a relatively close start to the opening set, the Bulldogs began to pull away thanks to five kills apiece from Julia Borges and Cecilia Stack, as both players had a hitting percentage of .500 or better in the frame. After two Gardner-Webb points narrowed the Asheville lead to 12-11, the Bulldogs ripped off seven-in-a-row, highlighted by three kills from Stack, to extend the lead to eight. The teams traded points, and with the score 22-14, the Bulldogs scored three straight, including a kill from Lexy Cole and a perfectly placed drop-in-the-bucket kill from Borges on set point.
SET 2, BULLDOGS WIN 25-13: Borges continued to dominate the match, leading the way with seven kills in the set. Kailey Hackett was an all-round offensive machine in the set, recording 14 assists and five kills to help the Bulldogs put continuous pressure on Gardner-Webb. The second set had a familiar feel to the first set as Gardner-Webb took an 8-6 lead, but the Bulldogs ripped off eight straight points to take control. Kailey Hackett contributed three kills in the run, while Ansley Rooks had two. The teams traded points, but the Bulldogs reasserted their dominance with a 5-0 run, with all five points coming on kills, to make the score 21-12. After a Gardner-Webb kill, the Bulldogs scored the final four points of the set.
SET 3, BULLDOGS WIN 25-16: The Bulldogs exploded out of the gate, running out to an 8-2 lead, prompting an early timeout from Gardner-Webb. The timeout helped, as Garner-Webb cut the lead to 12-10, but a "Hackett-to-Hackett" kill and Kasey West ace on back-to-back plays got the Bulldogs back on track, as they secured seven of the next nine points to increase their lead to 19-12. Freshman Hannah Spicer saw her first action of the day on the final point of the match and made it count, recording a kill on set point to close things out.

FROM FREDERICO SANTOS
On the response after Friday's match:
"I'm happy for the players because I know it was a rough outing (Friday) and I know nobody felt good about the performance. We've talked about this: 'Is it good to come back and play the next day?' Yes, it is, because you get to get back on the horse. Whether you're afraid or uneasy about getting out there again based on your last performance, you have to do it. You have to right the wrongs as best as you can. I give credit to the players. The players came out and they wanted to win and they did everything they needed to do to get a win."
On getting a win before going on a three-week road trip:
"I think it's huge because we want to have some momentum. To keep the confidence and to keep the momentum going, it was a good win to get us on the road next week. We also need to remember that this conference is won on the road. We love to play at home and we love to have our fans behind us. It's great, but we also have to be able to win on the road if we want to finish as high as we can in the conference.
