Bulldogs to Take on High Point Wednesday at Greenwood Field

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – UNC Asheville women's soccer will take on conference rival High Point at 3:30 p.m., Wednesday afternoon, at Greenwood Field in a Bulldog doubleheader with the men's team playing at 6 p.m.
The Bulldogs (3-7) have opened their Big South Conference season with a 1-1 record. They opened this portion of their schedule with a 2-0 loss to Campbell before defeating USC Upstate last week at Greenwood Field. Gillian Oyos scored the game-winning goal in the game's 107th minute to beat the Spartans 1-0. Oyos' goal was scored off of a corner kick by Alice Walker that was deflected by a Spartan defender.
Last week's victory against USC Upstate was UNC Asheville's second overtime victory and third shutout of the season.
High Point (3-6-1) has opened their conference season with a 2-0-1 record after posting a 1-6 record throughout their nonconference schedule. The Panthers opened Big South play with a 2-2 draw to Charleston Southern before defeating Campbell, 1-0, and USC Upstate, 3-0.
The Panthers' last trip to Asheville came in the 2017 season and ended in a 1-0 Bulldog victory at Greenwood Field. Current Bulldog captain, Grace Kwiatkowski, led the Bulldog defense from the centerback position, while Bryson Lee was credited with the shutout from the goalkeeper position with both playing the full 90 minutes in the shutout during their freshman campaigns.
The Bulldogs and the Panthers have split the last four matchups, 2-2, with the Bulldogs winning back to back matches in the 2016 and 2017 seasons.
