BAD HONNEF, Germany – Former UNC Asheville men's basketball standout Raekwon Miller has signed a professional contract with the Dragons Rhöndorf of the 2. Basketball-Bundesliga/ProB league in Germany.

The Dragons Rhöndorf professional basketball club is located in Bad Honnef, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany.

"I'm very excited to go continue playing basketball," Miller mused. "It's always been a dream of mine. Hopefully I can use this as a stepping stone to maybe make it to the higher levels of professional basketball one day."

When presented, the opportunity to play in Germany was one that he just could not pass up, particularly when his new team reached out to him recently.

"I got a call from the coach in Germany and he talked with me about wanting me to play point guard specifically," Miller said. "He also talked with me about the logistics of the team and how he wants to play. I thought it would be a great fit, a great opportunity and a great place to start."

Miller plans to head to Germany the first week of August.

Miller was part of the winningest class in UNC Asheville men's basketball history over a four-year stretch, joining Alec Wnuk, Kevin Vannatta and Ahmad Thomas. The 2017-18 UNC Asheville senior class won 81 games during their time suiting up for the Bulldogs.

The 2017-18 UNC Asheville senior class had three championships with the 2016-17 and 2017-18 Big South regular-season titles and the 2016 Big South Tournament title. The Bulldogs also played in the 2016 NCAA Tournament, the 2017 CollegeInsider.com Postseason Tournament and the 2018 National Invitation Tournament.

A 6-foot-3 guard, Miller saved his best season for his last. In fact, Miller was chosen the Men's Basketball Bulldog Award Winner at the annual ASHPYS end of athletic year celebration for his efforts during his senior season in the 2017-18 campaign.

Miller concluded his senior campaign averaging 11 points, 4.5 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game. The Marion, N.C. native finished the year 21st in scoring (11.0) and fifth in assists (3.3) in the Big South Conference. He was seventh in the league in assist-to-turnover ratio (1.3).

Miller was strongest during conference play in the 2017-18 season. He finished 16th in scoring (12.4), third in assists (3.7), 13th in rebounding (5.1), 11th in steals (1.3) and 11th in three-pointers made (2.1) during league play.

Miller collected his lone double-double of the season with 19 points and 10 rebounds in UNC Asheville's home win over Milligan on Dec. 10, 2017. In UNC Asheville's Big South Tournament win over Charleston Southern on March 1 at Kimmel Arena, Miller finished his efforts with a career-best nine assists. He narrowly missed a triple-double with 12 points, nine rebounds and the nine assists in the tournament win over Charleston Southern.

Overall, the McDowell High School product finished in double figures 17 times over the course of the 2017-18 season.
