Wofford jumped out to a 1-0 lead, as McClain Bradley and Mack Nathanson posted back-to-back hits. With runners at the corners, Cody Miller scored Bradley to take the lead via a sacrifice fly.
After a silent second inning for both squads, UNC Asheville tallied its first hit, as Jake Madole cranked a double to left center. Joe Zayatz walked with two outs, but both players were left stranded to keep Asheville off the scoreboard in the third inning.
Danny Wilson started to settle on the mound, as the junior didn't allow a hit for the next two innings.
In the fourth frame, Wofford doubled its lead, as the Terriers plated an unearned run.
After another quiet inning for both teams, the Bulldog offense came alive in the bottom of the sixth, as it gained its first lead of the game, 5-2. Kole Harris started the rally with a five-pitch walk. After a wild pitch, Carmine Pagano put two runners on base, as he also drew a five-pitch walk. Brandon Lankford joined in with a walk of his own, which forced the bases loaded. Chris Troost knotted the contest at 2-all, as he smacked a two-RBI double to left center. With two runners on base, Tyler Serricchio was hit with a pitch, and Joe Gruszka followed with an RBI, bases-loaded walk. Madole reached base safely on a fielder's choice, which plated Troost from third base, and Greg Gasparro capped off the five-run frame with a RBI sacrifice fly.
Wofford tried to strike back in the top of the seventh, but Hunter Burnette pitched out of a jam to leave three Terriers stranded on base.
After being held off the board for three straight innings, the Terriers plated one run on a two-base knock from Max McDougald.
Harris came on to pitch to close out the game for the Bulldogs, and he did so by facing four batters and striking out one. The save was his fourth of the year, which moves him into a tie for 10th all-time in program history for saves in a single season.
Cody Wilson led the surge on the hill for the Bulldogs, as he earned his first collegiate win. The freshman twirled two frames, where he held the Terriers hitless and scoreless. He also struck out a batter as well.
Troost and Madole combined for a pair of hits and three RBIs to lead the UNC Asheville offense. Gruszka and Gasparro earned a RBI each to total the team's five RBIs.
Overall, the Bulldogs walked six times, where the one through four hitters (Zayatz, Harris, Pagano and Lankford) totaled five of those walks.
With the win, UNC Asheville moves to 10-26 overall, and Wofford drops to 25-13 on the year.
