UNC Asheville Looks to Sweep Season Series Versus Wofford on Wednesday

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – In hope to sweep the season series versus the Terriers, the UNC Asheville baseball teams hosts Wofford on Wednesday, April 18, at Greenwood Field. First pitch is set for 6 p.m.

About the Bulldogs and Last Time Versus the Terriers
UNC Asheville enters the mid-week game with a 9-26 overall record and a 4-8 mark in home contests this season.
The last time UNC Asheville and Wofford met, the Bulldogs grinded out a 10-4 win in Spartanburg, S.C. In the fourth game of the year, UNC Asheville posted eight runs in the first three innings, and the Bulldogs then tacked on two more runs in the fifth frame en route to the six-run victory in February.
The two through four hitters for Asheville had a phenomenal performance against the Terriers, as Carmine Pagano, Brandon Lankford and Jake Madole each connected with two hits. Pagano and Lankford each poked a home run, while the duo also touched home twice and collected two RBIs. Wilson had a strong day at the plate, as the junior tallied a game-high three hits. He ended the game with a RBI and a run scored. Kole Harris smashed his first home run of the season, which was a two-run bomb over the left field wall.
Consisting of Hunter Burnette, Jesse Juday, Trey Jernigan, Blake Brown, Cody Wilson and Brandon Harris, the six Bulldogs held the Terriers off the scoreboard for seven combined frames. They also combined for seven strikeouts, one hit and no runs. Harris faced the minimum in his first outing of the season, and he struck out the side with only 12 pitches.
Scouting Wofford
After falling to UNC Asheville earlier in the season, the Terriers have been on a tear. In fact after the loss, Wofford is 24-9. On the year, Wofford is 7-7 in true road games this season, and in its last seven games, Wofford is 5-2 with wins over Furman, Presbyterian and UNC Wilmington.
The Terriers have four batters hitting over .300 this year. McClain Bradley paces the squad with a .368 clip, as he has started in all but one game. He has 56 hits, 34 runs, four home runs and 25 RBIs. Colin Davis is the team's second-leading hitter, as he has a .350 batting average in 32 games played. He has 14 doubles to go along with seven home runs and 34 RBIs. Mack Nathanson has connected with a .341 batting average, as he has connected with a team-high eight home runs in 37 starts. Cody Miller rounds out the top hitters for Wofford, as he has a .305 batting average in 36 starts.
Wofford has yet to announce its starter for Wednesday, but it will most likely send out Clay Schwaner, Jake Zoller or Scottie Wallace. Schwaner has started seven games, including starting the 10-4 loss to UNC Asheville earlier this season. The freshman right-handed pitcher has a 1-2 record along with an 8.33 ERA. Zoller, who has started two games this year, has a 0-0 record with a 4.82 ERA, and Wallace, who has started one game, has a 6.23 ERA with no decisions on the year.
Out of the bullpen, Wofford has a trio of key relievers in Anthony Garcia, Jake Hershman and Matt Ellmyer. Garcia has appeared in 17 games and has a 2-0 record with a 2.70 ERA. Hershman has a 2-3 mark with a 3.51 ERA, and Ellmyer is a perfect 5-0 with a 4.30 ERA. The three Terriers has combined for 10 of the team's 12 saves.
