Bulldogs Finished at Top of Big South in Numerous Statistical Categories

Final Big South Conference Men's Basketball Statistics
ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The 2017-18 UNC Asheville men's basketball team ended the year atop the Big South Conference statistics in numerous categories.
The Bulldogs as a team finished the year first in the conference in steals (7.4 per game), assists (15.4 per game) and three-point field goal percentage (.394).
In conference games only as a team, UNC Asheville led the league in field goal percentage (.490), assists (15.7), three-point field goal percentage (.402) and assist-to-turnover ratio (1.2).
Individually, sophomore first-team All-Big South selection MaCio Teague led the conference in minutes played per game (35.3) and three-point field goal percentage (.425). Academic All-American Kevin Vannatta was right behind Teague in minutes played (35.1).
Reigning two-time Big South Conference Defensive Player of the Year Ahmad Thomas finished his senior season first in the conference in steals (1.9 per game).
In sharing the basketball the best in the Big South Conference, senior Raekwon Miller led four Bulldogs in the top 15 in assists per game with 3.3 per contest.
UNC Asheville sophomore Jonathan Baehre ended the year third in the conference in blocked shots at 1.8 per game.
In league games only individually, Teague led the way in the conference in free throw percentage (.873) and three-point field goal percentage (.445). The UNC Asheville all-time leader in minutes played, Vannatta led the Bulldogs in minutes played in conference action(36.1).
UNC Asheville's 2017-18 season featured a second straight regular-season Big South Conference championship for the Bulldogs and Asheville's third straight postseason appearance with the Bulldogs playing in the 2018 National Invitation Tournament.
UNC Asheville men's basketball picked up its seventh Big South Conference regular-season title (1996-97, 1997-98, 2001-02, 2007-08, 2011-12, 2016-17 and 2017-18) this season.
The Bulldogs continued to set the standard in the Big South this past season by becoming the first program in league history to win 15 games or more for 11 straight seasons. The Bulldogs have also now won 10 or more league games in a season in a Big South men's basketball record 11 straight seasons.
