Women’s Golf Places Ninth; Concludes Play at the Bradley Spring Invitational

FARMERS BRANCH, Texas – To conclude play at the Bradley Spring Invitational, the UNC Asheville women's golf team finished ninth, while Adelyn Deery placed in the top 30 as an individual.
Final Round Highlights
Deery had the best overall finish for the Bulldogs, as the sophomore finished tied for 26th. The sophomore posted a 9-over 82 to conclude her tournament outing. She had a 7-over 153 after the first two rounds, and she concluded the tournament with a 16-over 235 (79-74-82).
Teammate Kellen Alsip finished right behind Deery, as the Cincinnati, Ohio native finished tied for 31st. Alsip posted a 18-over 237 in the three-round tournament.
Freshman Taylor Hinson rounded out the top-40 finishes for the Bulldogs, as she posted a 19-over 238 at the Bradley Spring Invitational. The Belmont, N.C. native inked a 7-over 80 in the final 18 holes, which was the second-best round on Tuesday for Asheville.
Becca Black finished outside of the top 40, as she placed tied for 42nd. However, she played her best round on the final 18 holes, which was a team-best 6-over 79. Also in that round, she recorded a team-high two birdies.
As a team, the Bulldogs finished in ninth place out of 16 teams. UNC Asheville posted a 72-over 948 in the two-day tournament in Texas.
Houston Baptist earned first place honors, as it posted a 33-over 909 in the two-day outing. Akron placed second with a 45-over 921, and NIU rounded out the top 3 with a 50-over 926.
There was a three-way tie for first individually, but Kaity Cummings of Houston Baptist came out victorious after winning on the playoff holes. Brielle Ward of NIU and Jacinta Pikunas of Akron were the other golfers that finished tied for first.
What's Next?
UNC Asheville will take a week off from the links, as it will travel to Charleston, S.C. on March 19 and 20 to compete in the Briar's Creek Invitational. The two-day tournament is hosted by College of Charleston.
