Baseball Travels to No. 24 NC State for a Two-Game Series

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The UNC Asheville baseball team travels to No. 24 NC State for a two-game series beginning on Tuesday, March 12 at Doak Field.

About the Bulldogs
UNC Asheville enters the two-game mid-week series with a 3-11 overall record. This past series, the Bulldogs won the series finale in the three-game set versus Manhattan, as they downed the Jaspers, 9-3, at Greenwood Field.
Redshirt sophomore Jordan Carr has been dominant this season, as he has started four games. He sports a 2-1 record with an impressive 2.78 ERA. He has totaled for 22.2 innings pitched and has allowed only seven runs this year. He has struck out 15 batters, which is a team-high, and has limited opponents to a .275 clip. Out of the bullpen, Nick Boyles, Eric Whitecavage and Jesse Juday have been leading the surge, as the trio has combined for 19 total appearances this season. The threesome has also combined for 16 strikeouts in 20.1 innings of work.
Offensively, Carmine Pagano has been on a tear. He has seven multi-hit games this year and has reached base safely in 12 of the 14 games. Overall, the junior infielder totes an impressive .305 batting average with a .407 slugging percentage and a .364 on-base percentage. Chris Troost is UNC Asheville's second-leading hitter, as he sports a .276 batting average. The sophomore has 16 total hits with three going for extra-bases.
Scouting NC State
The Wolfpack enters the two-game series with the Bulldogs with a 13-3 overall record and a 12-3 mark in home games. NC State is currently ranked 24th in the country, according to D1Baseball.com.
NC State currently has eight players that are hitting .316 or higher in the early part of the season. As a team, the Wolfpack is hitting at a .327 clip with a .558 slugging percentage and a .424 on-base percentage. The Pack has also connected with 31 total home runs and has plated 134 runs in 16 contests this year.
Brett Kinneman is pacing the NC State offense, as he is hitting at a .418 mark in 16 starts. He has 28 total hits to his name, including an astounding nine home runs and 27 RBIs. Josh McClain is right behind him in total hits, as he has 25 this year. McClain has a team-leading six doubles, and he has touched home 14 times and tallied eight RBIs.
The Wolfpack has strong pitching to compliment its strong offense. As a team, NC State has a 2.81 ERA in 144 innings pitched. The Wolfpack has limited opponents to a .209 batting average and has struck out 139 batters this year. They have allowed 45 earned runs and has scattered 110 total hits.
NC State relievers Reid Jackson, Joe O'Donnell and Kent Klyman have combined for eight of the team's nine saves this year. The trio has combined for five earned runs in 28.1 innings of work, and has combined for 25 total strikeouts.
