UNC Asheville Men’s Basketball to Learn of NIT Destination on Sunday, March 11

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – Big South Conference men's basketball regular-season champion UNC Asheville will learn of its destination in the National Invitation Tournament on Sunday, March 11.
The 2018 NIT Selection Show will be aired at 8:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 11, on ESPNU. The show will be hosted by Matt Schick and Chris Spatola.
The 81st edition of the NIT will begin Tuesday, March 13, with the semifinals and championship game scheduled for March 27 and 29 at Madison Square Garden in New York.
All 31 matchups of the NIT will air exclusively on ESPN networks.
UNC Asheville men's basketball earned a spot in the 2018 NIT by winning the 2017-18 Big South Conference regular-season title.
The Bulldogs picked up their seventh Big South Conference regular-season title (1996-97, 1997-98, 2001-02, 2007-08, 2011-12, 2016-17 and 2017-18) this season.
UNC Asheville will be making its second appearance in the NIT. The Bulldogs last appeared in the postseason event in 2008.
Overall, this year's NIT appearance will be UNC Asheville's seventh in a postseason tournament. The Bulldogs have advanced to the NCAA Tournament four times before (2003, 2011, 2012 and 2016), the NIT (2008 and 2018) twice and the CollegeInsider.com Postseason Tournament once (2017).
