Bulldogs Drop Heartbreaker to UNCG, 4-3

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – UNC Asheville women's tennis dropped its first home match of the year in a heartbreaking 4-3 loss to UNCG on Sunday, Feb. 25, at the Asheville Racquet Club Downtown.
The match opened with UNC Asheville (4-3) securing the doubles point with wins in two of the three doubles flights over UNCG (3-2).
The Bulldog No. 1 duo of Kylee Shipley and Hannah Francisco improved to 6-1 on the season with a 6-2 win over UNCG's Nancy Bridges and Blaine Boaz at No. 1 doubles.
UNC Asheville's No. 3 duo of Emily Sidor and Taylor Love made sure to garner the Bulldogs the doubles point with a 6-0 blanking of Sophia Adams and Emily Ory at No. 3 doubles.
The match would come down to the wire in singles with both teams battling hard to try and win the match, but in the end it would be UNCG that would take the match via taking four of the six singles flights.
UNC Asheville's Sidor improved to 4-2 on the season in singles with a 7-6, 6-4 victory over UNCG's Alice Taylor at No. 2 singles. Sidor is now 2-0 at the No. 2 spot on the season. She has won four straight singles matches.
At No. 3 singles, Lauren Watson-Steele garnered her third straight singles win with a hard-fought 6-2, 6-7, 6-4 win over Boaz.
