Hinson Finishes Top-20; UNC Asheville Wraps Up Play at Amelia Island Collegiate

AMELIA ISLAND, Fla. – Freshman Taylor Hinson paced the Bulldogs in the final round at the Amelia Island Collegiate, as the UNC Asheville golf team wrapped up competition on Tuesday.
Final Round Highlights
Hinson led UNC Asheville on the final day, as the freshman finished her final round with a 4-over 76. She finished the two-day outing at the Amelia Island Collegiate with an 11-over 227 (76-75-76), which put her in a three-way tie for 20th individually. The Belmont, N.C. native was only two strokes away from cracking the top-15 and five strokes from moving into the top-10.
Becca Black had the second-lowest score for UNC Asheville on Tuesday, as she posted a 5-over 77 on the final round. The sophomore inked 11 pars in her final 18 holes.
Ironically, both Hinson and Black carded birdies on holes 15 and 16.
Janie Thomas had the biggest highlight for UNC Asheville on Tuesday. On her first hole of the outing, she posted an eagle on the 455-yard, par-5 hole 15. She concluded her final round with an 11-over 83.
For the third-best score for Asheville, Kellen Alsip finished her final round with a 7-over 79.
Sydney Shrader of North Florida won the individual title at 4-under 212 (73-68-71). On the final day, she carded six birdies en route to a 1-under 71.
Nationally ranked Campbell won the tournament with a 14-over 878. The Camels sat in second place after the first two rounds, but they shot an 8-over 296 to jump into first place.
As a team, UNC Asheville finished 14th with a 75-over 939 (310-316-313).
What's Next?
The Bulldogs will take a three-week break from the links, as they prepare for the Bradley Invitational. The two-day outing will be held in Dallas, Texas and is hosted by Bradley University.
