Women’s Golf Travels to the Sunshine State to Compete in the Amelia Island Collegiate

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – After a successful outing two weeks ago, the UNC Asheville women's golf team returns to the links on Monday, Feb. 19, with a two-day outing at the Amelia Island Collegiate in Amelia Island, Fla.
Last Time Out
Sophomore Becca Black was the lone Bulldog to go undefeated at the Mid-American Match Play Challenge two weeks ago. The Elizabethtown, Ky. native won the first three head-to-head matchups to open the tournament. She finished the lone match play outing of the season going half with Bowling Green State's Jessica Madry. For her performance in Florida, she was named the Big South Conference Golfer of the Week.
Rookie Taylor Hinson was also rewarded by the league after her outing, as she was named Big South Freshman Golfer of the Week. It was Hinson's third Freshman Golfer of the Week honor in her career. The Belmont, N.C. native won her opening round 4&2, and in her final two rounds, she halved and won 3&2 to conclude the tournament.
About the Amelia Island Collegiate
The Amelia Island Collegiate is a two-day, 54-hole tournament. The outing is hosted by ASUN member Jacksonville University.
The tournament will be held at the Amelia National Golf and Country Club, which is located in Amelia Island, Fla. The course plays at 6,029 yards and is a par-72.
Of the 15-team field, there are three schools that are from the Big South Conference - UNC Asheville, Campbell and Winthrop.
Monday the 15 teams will play the opening 36 holes, and the final 18 holes will be held on Tuesday.
The Bulldogs kick off their competition in Florida at 8 a.m. on holes 14-16B. They are paired with USC Upstate and Morehead State.
