Teague Tabbed Big South Men’s Basketball Co-Player of the Week

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – MaCio Teague of UNC Asheville men's basketball has been selected as the Big South Men's Basketball Co-Player of the Week.
The league office made the official announcement on Tuesday, Feb. 12. Teague shared honors with Chris Clemons of Campbell.
Teague has now won league Player of the Week honors twice this season. He was also named the conference Player of the Week on Dec. 27, 2017.
In total, Teague has now received honors from the league seven times. In addition to his now three Big South Player of the Week honors (Dec. 27, 2016, Dec. 27, 2017 and Feb. 12, 2018), Teague was also chosen Big South Freshman of the Week four times last season (Nov. 21, Jan. 2, Jan. 9 and Feb. 13).
Teague averaged 17.0 points, 3.0 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game last week in two wins for the Bulldogs. Teague finished the two games shooting 50 percent (10-of-20) from the field overall and from beyond the arc (7-of-14). Teague was a perfect 7-of-7 from the free throw line.
In UNC Asheville's come-from-behind win at Longwood, the Cincinnati, Ohio native led the Bulldogs with 20 points.
The sophomore guard followed that up with a herculean effort to lead UNC Asheville to a thrilling come-from-behind win over Radford. Teague scored the final nine points of the game for the Bulldogs. The first of three consecutive three-pointers for Teague came with 1:52 to play. The trey pulled the Bulldogs back to within four at 64-60.
After solid work on the defensive end, Teague knocked down another trey with 1:13 to play to pull the Bulldogs within one at 64-63. UNC Asheville would remain strong on the defensive end next to give the Bulldogs the opportunity to take the win. Teague was once again up to the challenge with his three-pointer in the final seconds placing the Bulldogs on top, 66-64.
Teague scored all of his 14 points in the second half with nine of the 14 coming in the final 1:52 of the game.
Teague's heroics were featured on ESPN's "SportsCenter" and "College Basketball Live" as well as on ESPN.com. On "College Basketball Live," the tremendous radio broadcast call by play-by-play voice Brian Hall and analyst in UNC Asheville Hall of Famer Mike Gore coupled with the Big South Network feed directed and produced by Mark Godin was dubbed as the "Call of the Night."
In addition, the NCAA March Madness Twitter handle, @marchmadness, also featured the final sequence of UNC Asheville's thrilling win, noting "give a listen to the @UNCAbasketball win heard round the world!"

After starting Big South play at 1-2, UNC Asheville has now won seven straight and 10 of its last 11 games to move to 18-9 overall and 11-3 in league play. The Bulldogs are the only team in the Big South this year to win seven straight league games.
The league home win over Radford allowed the Bulldogs to extend their home winning streak to 21. UNC Asheville's 21-straight home wins is the third-longest home winning streak in the country.
The win over Radford was UNC Asheville's 16th consecutive Big South Conference home victory. UNC Asheville is now 80-16 overall and 55-10 against Big South foes within the friendly confines of Kimmel Arena inside the Sherrill Center. The Bulldogs are 12-0 on the 2017-18 season at Kimmel Arena.
