BULLDOG BITES
About UNC Asheville
UNC Asheville welcomes Davidson to Kimmel Arena with a 1-2 overall record. The Bulldogs claimed their first win of the 2018-19 season on Saturday, as they downed non-conference rival Western Carolina, 74-49.
In the home opener versus the Catamounts, seniors Jessica Wall and Sonora Dengokl paced UNC Asheville. Wall tallied a game-high 24 points, as she shot an impressive 8-for-11 behind the three-point arc. Her eight made three pointers fell one short of matching a school record that she set last year versus Furman in the Women's Basketball Invitational. Denogkl added 16 points versus WCU, as the guard connected with six shots and went a perfect 4-for-4 from the free-throw line. Both Bulldogs combined for eight assists in 54 minutes of play.
Nadiria Evans also had a strong performance versus Western Carolina. The sophomore from Gainesville, Fla. knocked down four field goals en route to 10 points. She was also tied for the team lead with five rebounds. Juliet Esadah, Tiffany Wilson and Evonna McGill also totaled five rebounds each for Asheville.
On the year, Dengokl leads the team with 16 points per game. After her 24-point performance, Wall is now averaging 11.7 points per contest. Evans and Ali Trani are leading the team with an average of 3.3 rebounds per game.

Last year the Wildcats edged the Bulldogs, 58-50. In that contest in Davidson, N.C., Khaila Webb (12) and Bronaza Fitzgerald (10) were the two Bulldogs that scored in double figures. Senior forward Alexis Toney tallied eight points in 28 minutes of action, while Evans totaled eight points as well in just 15 minutes of play.
