UNC Asheville Concludes Non-Conference Schedule Wednesday

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – To conclude its non-conference portion of the schedule, the UNC Asheville women's soccer team will travel to South Carolina State on Wednesday, Sept. 20 with kickoff set for 5 p.m. at Oliver C. Dawson Stadium.

About UNC Asheville
The Bulldogs enter the mid-week contest 3-4-1 including a 2-1 record in road contests this season. Despite dropping the last three matches, UNC Asheville has played tough in the previous two home games in Elon and USC Upstate.
With her first goal of the season versus Elon, senior Caroline Houser is sixth in UNC Asheville's history with 58 career points. She scored the goal right out of halftime as she snuck the ball into the top left-hand corner of the Phoenix net in the 47th minute.
The NCAA released its first RPI (rating percentage index) ranking on Sept. 17, and Asheville is ranked 173rd, which is higher than five Power Five conference teams. In the Big South Conference, Asheville is the third-highest in the league and is above High Point, Longwood, Charleston Southern, Winthrop, Presbyterian, Campbell and Gardner-Webb.
With 13 total fouls last week for Asheville, the Bulldogs are still in the top 5 in the country in fewest fouls per game (4.88).

South Carolina State University enters the match with a 1-7 record including a 1-2 mark inside Oliver C. Dawson Stadium.
SCSU's lone win this year was over Alabama A&M where the Bulldogs tallied a trio of goals from three different players. Tierra Pullard leads the squad with a pair of goals on the year, and two other players have each netted a goal as well. Jamey Thomas leads the team with 10 shots including six on goal.
Mahogany Fisher has started all six games in goal for SCSU where she has totaled 470:51 minutes between the posts. She has corralled 49 saves where she leads the team in save percentage (0.742).
