Vannatta Selected to CoSIDA Academic All-District Team

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – UNC Asheville men's basketball junior guard Kevin Vannatta has been selected to the 2016-17 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District® 3 Men's Basketball first-team.
As a first-team selection, Vannatta is now eligible to garner CoSIDA Academic All-America honors.
Vannatta as an Accounting major at UNC Asheville presently owns a 3.927 grade point average.
"This is a tremendous and well-deserved honor for Kevin," UNC Asheville men's basketball head coach Nick McDevitt said. "He puts a tremendous amount of effort into everything he does in his school work, athletics, community service and other civic activities. Kevin exemplifies the true meaning of the term student-athlete and he is an outstanding ambassador for our University and our basketball program."
On the court, Vannatta in 25 starts this year for the Bulldogs thus far is averaging 8.8 points, 4.7 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game.
The Academic All-District® teams include student-athletes divided into eight geographic districts across the United States and Canada. This is the sixth year of the expanded Academic All-America® program as CoSIDA moved from recognizing a University Division (Division I) and a College Division (all non-Division I) and has doubled the number of scholar-athletes honored. The expanded teams include NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II and NCAA Division III participants, while the College Division Academic All-America® Team combines NAIA, Canadian and two-year schools.
